Masterclass: Stanford Alumnae Katie, Samira on Design Thinking

KATIE NEVILLE – Katie currently works as a medical device designer at Phoenix DeVentures. She has a Masters of Engineering Design from Stanford University and an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois. While at Stanford, she co-founded the company Code Coral in an effort to address the challenges of physician burnout. Katie also has a background in the aerospace industry from her time with the Boeing Company as a product development engineer. She also has done consulting work and hosted Design Thinking workshops for a variety of companies including San Francisco General Hospital, Honda, and Kaiser Permanente.

SAMIRA DASWANI – Samira is an entrepreneur working at the intersection of design, healthcare and technology. Using the power of human-centered design, she is tackling one of the most pressing problems of our generation – mental health, isolation and burnout. Together with a group of talented individuals, Samira co-founded Code Coral that helps individuals better manage their emotional wellbeing, starting with physicians. She has been a part of 2 different technology startups and a consultant at McKinsey & Company. She brings a unique blend of design, operations and strategy to all her projects. She earned a Master’s degree in Engineering, Design at Stanford University, a bachelor’s degree in biological engineering and art history from MIT and Wellesley College respectively. As an avid scuba diver and a red belt in taekwondo, Samira spends her time exploring beautiful places.
